On May 25th, 2021 the Callide C Power Station in Sth East QLD catastrophically failed after an explosion in its turbine hall.
The two operators of the Sub-Station are insured by two different insurance companies which has led to a stalemate as to who is going to fund the repair (estimated to be in the hundreds of millions) and may not be completed until late 2022 or into 2023. This is made more complex by the fact that the Sub-Station was scheduled to be decommissioned in 2028.
The Electricity Grid in QLD is already under maximum strain and in need of serious upgrading. This will only lead to greater increases in electricity prices for Queenslanders over the coming years.
As a result, The Community Co has launched an Energy Procurement Network by using our large buying power to save our clients up to 30% in energy costs. We have seen some amazing results for our clients in the past few months and are continually looking at ways to reduce energy costs.
